Volvo to Recall 507,000 Vehicles Due to Fire Risk
Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo is recalling 507,000 vehicles globally because of a faulty engine component that, in extreme cases, could result in a fire.
The Bloomberg reports that through Volvo’s internal investigation, they have identified that the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform. Because of this, a “localized engine bay fire” may occur.
The recall covers Volvo’s 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine in cars produced between 2014-2019. It affects a wide array of models: S60, S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60, and XC90.
While the company has no reports of accidents or personal injuries, all customers will receive a letter asking them to contact their local retailer for corrective action.
