There Will be a Second-Generation Nissan Juke and This is Our First Look
When Nissan launched the Kicks sub-compact SUV, it was assumed that time was up for the odd-looking Juke which occupies the same segment. Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case as Nissan is teasing a second-generation model, and it looks to be as funky as ever.
Based on the teaser photo, the 2020 Juke looks to retain the two-tier light design with a slit-like LED daytime running light at the trailing edge of the hood and bumper-mounted round headlights below it. Though not much is known yet officially, based on spy photos, the new-generation model will have a sharply raked windshield and sloping roof—things that should please current Juke owners.
Mechanically, the Juke is said to ride on a platform shared with Renault. The CMF-B platform, also underpinning the Renault Clio and Captur should enable the 2020 Juke to have more space and cargo space. Motivation will likely come from a family of small displacement gasoline engines shared with Renault—a 1.0- and 1.3-liter making anywhere between 100 to 155 horsepower. Interestingly, Nissan’s twin-turbo 1.6-liter with 160 horsepower is also said to fit.
All will be revealed in a few months’ time. For now, though, there’s the Juke NISMO Edition which is now on sale at all Nissan Philippines dealerships.
