Toyota Motor Philippines Recalling Selected 2019 Alphard MPVs and Coaster Buses
Toyota Motor Philippines is recalling selected Alphard and Coaster models due to seat belts which may not lock properly in the event of a crash.
The affected models are equipped with seat belts that have two types of locking mechanisms. One of the locking mechanisms in certain seat belts may have not been assembled correctly. This can cause an occupant to not be restrained properly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The Japanese carmaker has identified 80 Alphard units produced between August 20, 2019 to September 6, 2019 and 7 Coaster units produced between August 26, 2019 to September 6, 2019 to be affected.
Toyota is in the process of preparing the replacement parts and will notify affected customers through registered mail. Once the affected vehicle is brought to an authorized Toyota dealership, the seat belt mechanism will be inspected, and if necessary, replaced at no cost to the customer.
