Aston Martin Delays Push Into EVs
Cash strapped Aston Martin will have to delay its push into electric vehicles despite the fact that its first all-electric offering, the Rapide E is almost complete. The news comes as Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll injected some USD 656 million to keep the British carmaker afloat.
Despite being called “vital” to their future, Aston Martin is rethinking its product strategy altogether. Aside from the Rapide E, its all-electric brand, Lagonda will be delayed for another three years (it was slated to launch in 2022). The news comes as the carmaker embarks on a “reset plan” that will see them focus on electrified, rather than full electric vehicles.
The new Aston Martin SUV, the DBX survived the transition though and is said to be at the center of the company plans to boost sales. Customer deliveries will start by the end of this year.
