First-Generation Mazda MX-5 Inducted into Japan Automotive Hall of Fame
The first-generation Mazda MX-5 enters the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame, recognized by the organization as one of the country’s impost important historic cars.
Cited for its attractive styling and fun-to-drive ethos, the jurors say the MX-5 helped in making Japanese technology globally recognized. Moreover, its cumulative production exceeding one million units and more than 200 awards, including the Guinness World Record for being the best-selling open-top two-seater sportscar helped cement its reputation.
This is the second Mazda model to be inducted into the Japan Automotive Hall Fame with the first one being the Cosmo 110S in 2003.
