Here's What's Included in Hyundai's Free PMS Package

When Hyundai Philippines came up with the 5x5 Promo last September, they made history being the first automaker to offer a free 5-year Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) package on top of their 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

The promo, subsequently extended until December of last year, is now back. Now re-titled, 5x5 L.O.V.E. or Live Own Value Enjoy, Hyundai says its your passport to a worry-free ownership, well, if you plan to get a Santa Fe, Tucson, or Grand Starex that is.

As great as it sounded though, there was some social media backlash with the first 5x5 Promo, specifically with dealers starting to charge customers for what’s supposed to have been a free PMS package. Well, reaching out to Hyundai Philippines, they clarified that the free PMS package only covers the “Basic PMS package.” For clarity, the list of what’s included is listed in the table below. Pardon that the table is kinda big and is in gray scale, but that is the best way for you to get it in high-res.

Other items and repairs needed (which are not included in the basic PMS package as specified), will be subject to the approval of the owner and will be charged to his account.

Take note that the promo covers a total of 21 PMS visits and owners must bring in their Hyundai vehicle during the first month or 1,000-km; third month or 5,000-km; and every three months or 5,000-km thereafter to keep it going. If a customer ends up skipping the prescribed PMS, the next applicable PMS shall be applied and the PMS skipped is deemed waived. The Service Passport is updated after each PMS visit.

Going back to the 5x5 L.O.V.E. promo, every purchase of a Grand Starex, Santa Fe, or Tucson from any authorized dealer nationwide from today until February 29 includes the free 5-year Basic PMS package. On top of that, the promo can be availed in conjunction with any existing sales promotions such as cash discounts, low downpayments, etc.

Hyundai's Game Changer: 5-Years Free PMS on Top of Its 5-Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) is celebrating 18 years of operations, with almost a decade of being the third top player in the Philippine automotive industry. As a way of thanking its loyal Filipino buyers and to continue driving customer-centric programs, Hyundai is launching the industry’s first and only 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 5-year free Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) offer on new purchases of its flagship vehicles–Grand Starex, Santa Fe, and Tucson.

It’s been a long and successful journey from Hyundai’s start in 2001, with the game-changing introduction of the widely popular Starex van. The Grand Starex has remained one of the brand’s flagship vehicles to this day. It continues to offer first class comfort on the road. Passengers will definitely be comfortable with the luxurious and flexible ergonomic seating, with a pair of captain’s chairs for the second and third rows each. In case some passengers may prefer a warmer temperature while the rest prefer a cooler temperature, the Grand Starex allows for full climate control for dual zone. Rather than having to pack a blanket or jacket for some members who may find it a bit chilly, the dual zone climate control addresses the varying needs perfectly.

After the Grand Starex, Hyundai announced another winning model, the Santa Fe, which quickly became a household name. The Sante Fe was the first 7-seater SUV that provided unequaled comfort and refinement. In fact, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe picked up its eighth 10 Best Interiors award. Its design combines premium quality with a roomy layout featuring a strong horizontal design theme and enhanced visibility. Its daylight opening enhances the feeling of openness with generous amounts of natural light. The layered, three-dimensional instrumental panel and contrasting seat stitching are premium touches, making the Sante Fe tastefully styled.

Hyundai brought in another iconic model with the Tucson, by being the first compact SUV with a diesel engine. It’s the fusion of riding comfort and driving performance with no compromises. Riding comfort is guaranteed due to the ample space and plush seats. Its Infotainment System serves as monitor for the rear parking camera sensors, especially when needing to maneuver through tricky parking spaces. It can carry more luggage with its spacious boot space, thanks to folded backrests.  With the Tucson, it’s sensible, practical, and also makes driving fun.

Thanks to Hyundai’s new game-changing 5-year unlimited warranty and 5-year PMS (5x5 program), owning any of these flagship models is now made even more worry-free, with the presence of a 41-strong nationwide dealership network. Expect seamless customer interaction with Hyundai Cares (HCARES), a centralized customer contact center number to provide timely and adequate customer solutions ranging from sales inquiries, service appointments, maintenance inquiries, and other customer services.

With the 5x5 program, Hyundai continues its commitment to provide customer-driven innovation and to blaze another successful decade.

Hyundai is Now Offering a More Affordable Santa Fe

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., is adding a new Santa Fe variant. Now, if you’re thinking for a high-grade 4WD variant, you’re out of luck. Instead, the new variant is aimed to help Hyundai’s 7-seater unibody crossover compete against 7-seater pickup-based passenger vehicles.

Officially called the Santa Fe GLS 2WD Mid, it’s priced P 380,000 lower than the loaded GLS 2WD High trim. However, the P 2.158 million suggested retail price still puts it in the cross hair of top-range PPVs.

Now, for those wondering what Hyundai had to sacrifice to keep the price down, we’ll tell you the good news first. Mechanically, it’ll have the same 2.2-liter CRDi engine as the top trim variant. It makes the same 200 horsepower, 441 Nm of torque output mated to the same 8-speed automatic. Heck, it even keeps the cruise control function as well. Okay, now to the bad news. What’s gone, you ask?

Outside, the GLS Mid variant ditches the LED headlights for halogen ones and the LED taillights for bulbs. It also loses chrome on the front grille and the rear spoiler as well. Even the wheels have gone down an inch from 19s to 18s.

Inside, the GLS Mid keeps the leather seats and even the power driver’s seat, but removes the side sun curtains, heads-up display, wireless charger, and rain-sensing wipers. Even the audio system is now down to a 5-inch display and loses Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of safety, the GLS Mid nets you dual SRS airbags (down from 6), and ditches the electronic parking brake for a traditional foot brake one. And while ABS with EBD is standard, the stability control system’s gone. The 360-degree camera is also MIA as are front corner sensors.

With all these omissions, do you still think the Santa Fe is good value for money or will you still opt for a top-grade Pickup-based Passenger Vehicle?

Hyundai Just Threw Shade at Nissan in Their Latest Web Advert

Whoa, talk about being a straight talker! Hyundai Philippines is using one of the unique traits of the Santa Fe mid-sized SUV to diss the competition, particularly the Nissan Terra. (You can check the screen cap for yourself immediately below, or view the web ad in full below).

In their latest web advert, it shows a hula girl ornament wearing some Kiss-inspired make-up rocking back and forth. Then, this copy comes out: “You can rock all you want, but your ride won’t.” After that, the hula girl transforms into one that’s gently swaying. Eagle-eyed readers will be quick to point out that the dashboard in the “rocking” part is clearly the Nissan Terra, while in the “swaying” part, it’s the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The ad also comes with this blurb, “There’s a time for rockin’, and there’s a time for refinement. With the Hyundai Santa Fe’s rattle-free monocoque body that stays smooth and suave for your everyday terrain, the only thing that’ll rock is your taste in music.”

We certainly have no beef against pick-up based passenger vehicles (PPVs) such as the Terra, but given most Filipino buyers go for it mainly for its rugged construction and durability, you do have to give kudos to Hyundai for transforming one of the Santa Fe’s perceived weaknesses into an advantage.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Has One of the World's Best Car Interiors for 2019

This year, Hyundai has managed to pick up its eighth 10 Best Interiors award with the 2019 Santa Fe. Earning the honor from a field of 32 vehicle nominees with new or significantly redesigned interior, 8 jurors from Wards Auto scored them based on aesthetics, comfort, fit-and-finish, material quality and ergonomics. While value is a consideration, there is no price cap for entries.

According to Wards Senior Editor Christie Truett, they cited the Santa Fe because of its “better materials and fit-and-finish, plus a more progressive interior design than some competing midsized CUVs costing thousands [of dollars] more.”

The 2019 Santa Fe interior design combines premium quality with a roomy layout featuring a strong horizontal design theme and enhanced visibility. Premium touches such as the layered, three-dimensional instrument panel and contrasting seat stitching ensures a high level of luxury within the cabin. The Santa Fe’s larger daylight opening enhances the interior’s feeling of openness with generous amounts of natural light.

Other vehicles in Wards 10 Best Interior List are (in alphabetical order):
  • Bentley Continental GT
  • BMW M850i
  • Genesis G70
  • Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Jeep Gladiator
  • Lincoln Nautilus
  • Mercedes-Benz A220
  • Nissan Kicks
  • Toyota RAV4
  • Volvo V60
