Peugeot Philippines Brings In Malaysian-Made 3008. Prices Start at P 1,890,000 (w/ Specs)

Since Peugeot’s arrival into the Philippines, they’ve always vowed to get the Japanese’s lunch money. They’ve tried it all—from the introduction of a mild hybrid diesel to the expansion of its product portfolio which included the likes of the 208 GTi, 301, and 308. Suffice to say, they weren’t that successful, limited only to niche player status outsold even by the likes of Volkswagen.

Now though, there’s an air of confidence at Peugeot and that has to do with the introduction of its new 3008 line-up. Admittedly, it doesn’t look all that different from the 3008 Active launched last June. What’s greatly different though is the price. For the first time ever, the 3008 compact SUV starts at P 1,890,000 putting it squarely within the CR-V/CX-5/Forester range.

The secret to Peugeot’s more affordable pricing is a change of source. As speculated last June, the French car brand was seeking to source from the Gurun, Kedah Malaysian assembly plant. A joint-venture between Peugeot’s parent company, PSA and Malaysia’s Naza Corporation, the plant now serves several ASEAN markets including the Philippines.

Thanks to zero tariff, the Peugeot 3008 is now more affordable. The new SRP is P 500,000 less than the European-sourced 3008 Active which is, in turn, P 500,000 less than the original price of the top-spec 3008 Allure. And despite being less of a dent to the pocket, the Malaysian-made 3008 Active now packs more features than the European 3008 Active.

Under the hood is a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 167 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with cruise control. Eschewing traditional all-wheel drive, the 3008 relies on its electronic Advanced Grip Control System to maximize the performance of its front-wheel drive architecture.

Standard features include leather seats, carbon-like material on the dashboard, dual zone climate control, and an 8-inch capacitive multi-touch screen with MirrorLink, 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and rear parking sensors with reverse camera.

For those who want a diesel powertrain, there’s also a variant powered by a 2.0-liter BlueHDi engine. Packing the same features as its gasoline-engine sibling, this one costs P 2,090,000—undercutting both the all-wheel Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5.

Peugeot Transforms the 3008 Into An Off-Road Adventure Machine

The Peugeot 3008 may not be the first SUV you had in mind for an off-road adventure in muddy trails or deep forests; after all, it’s solely available in front-wheel drive. But, that didn’t stop the folks over at Peugeot who transformed one example into a unique go-anywhere model.

Based off the 1.6-liter GT Line, this one-of-a-kind 3008 gets subtle all-terrain enhancements. Grippy Cooper AT3 off-road tires are fitted to its purposeful 17-inch steel wheels and underbody protection is boosted by a front skid plate.

A powerful LED light bar at the front of the Rival aluminum roof rack provides additional illumination when driving on unmarked roads and, when it’s time to stop, drivers can spend the night camping on top of the 3008 in a fully retractable ARB Simpson roof tent.

The one-off model is finished in a unique wrap and fitted with a bicycle rack – perfect for carrying a Peugeot trail bike for two-wheeled adventures.

Using Advanced Grip Control technology, the 3008 saves weight over conventional all-wheel drive systems. Using one of five driving modes, it optimizes traction of the front wheels.

The special Peugeot 3008 SUV successfully tackled the northern section of the iconic Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam.

Peugeot Philippines Brings in More Affordable 3008 SUV (w/ Specs)

Peugeot Philippines continues its strategy to increase its presence in the compact SUV segment with the launch of a new Peugeot 3008 variant: the 3008 Active. Taking on the immense success of the 3008 SUV GT Line, this new variant comes at a price point that is P 500,000 less than its GT Line sibling.

“Peugeot is proud to unveil the first stage in its long-term goal of bringing its products to a wider and truly global audience,” Peugeot Philippines President Glen Dasig said. “To achieve this, we are making our vehicles more accessible to the market while still providing the same driving experience and comfort found in our current range,” he added.

Similar to the GT Line variant, the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active Diesel possesses a unique and distinctive style. Its dynamic silhouette highlights an athletic and aggressive stance, creating one uninterrupted flow from the concave radiator grille with edged trims and chromed facets to the gloss black rear panel incorporating Peugeot’s signature claw effect LED lighting. The slim halogen headlights complete the look by providing the vehicle a feline-like appearance.

Inside, the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active features a modern and sophisticated cabin. Peugeot’s revolutionary i-Cockpit provides the driver the utmost in comfort and accessibility with an elevated driving position, compact steering wheel, touchscreen controls, and a futuristic all-digital dashboard.

At the heart of the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active is a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine also found in the GT Line variant. With an output of 150 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, the turbocharging technology found in the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active provides more power and consumes less fuel than most gasoline-powered compact SUVs of the same displacement.

“No compromises have been taken in making the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active more attainable,” Peugeot Philippines President Glen Dasig said. “This is proof that Peugeot has taken serious interest in expanding its reach in the Philippines by providing products that are priced very competitively against its rivals,” he added.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV Active Diesel is now available in select Peugeot dealerships nationwide with a price of P 2,390,000 and comes in three exterior colors: Bianca White, Nera Black, and Artense Gray.
