PGA Cars to Go Appointment-Basis Only for Both Sales and Service

On Monday, May 18, 2020, the official and exclusive importer and distributor of Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley in the Philippines resumes physical sales and service operations of the four premium automotive brands as COVID-19 quarantine restrictions in some parts of the Philippines are eased.

PGA Cars, Inc. marks the resumption of Porsche’s, Audi’s, Lamborghini’s and Bentley’s physical operations with a strict compliance to health and sanitation protocols as it places priority on the health and safety of its clients, guests, and workforce. The restart of physical operations is complemented by the brands’ established virtual operations, some aspects of which have been recently bolstered by digital tools in response to new market conditions.

Besides continuing to observe hygienic measures practiced in Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley dealerships long before the quarantine—such as regular disinfection of facilities and vehicles, and providing hand sanitizers to all personnel—some of the steps to be taken during the restart are that servicing of vehicles will be done by appointment only, and that all vehicles accepted will be immediately disinfected upon arrival, as well as prior to releasing.

Also, all guests and employees entering the brands’ premises must first wear a mask, undergo a thermal check, remove their outer clothing, submit a health form, wash their hands, and go through a foot bath. Social distancing will be practiced as well, with the guidelines announced in signage around the facilities.

Clients who wish to visit the brands’ showrooms will have to book an appointment.

The re-opening of PGA Cars’ physical facilities for Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini and Bentley follows the four brands’ resumption of manufacturing operations in their home markets.

Upon the restart of PGA Cars’ brands’ physical operations, clients can check out the latest models from Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley. These models are properly documented and covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, as well as supported by world-class aftersales services with work performed by factory-trained and -certified technicians who have access to the latest equipment and necessary software updates.

More Honda Cars PH Dealerships Resume Operations Today

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), announces the resumption of its dealer sales and after-sales operations starting May 16, 2020. Complete schedule and dealer contact details are available in the image below.

To ensure the overall well-being of customers and dealer associates, Honda Cars dealerships will implement strict health and safety protocols. This includes daily inspection and sanitation in high activity areas, such as the showroom floor, vehicle delivery, vehicle maintenance and repairs, and business transaction areas.

All customers and dealer associates will be scanned for body temperature before entering the dealership premises. Those with a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius and above will not be allowed to enter.

Customers will be required to wear face masks while inside the dealership and must sanitize their hands before entering and while inside the dealership premises. Hand sanitizers will be available at strategic locations. Dealer associates will be required to wear prescribed PPEs.

Social distancing (at least one (1) meter apart) shall be observed throughout the dealership premises (showroom, service reception, customer lounges, cashiers, etc.). All common areas will have demarcation lines to ensure this is strictly followed.

Given the various community quarantine guidelines implemented nationwide, dealerships located in areas under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) may have limited operating capacity once operations resume. With this, customers who plan to visit the dealership for sales or after-sales services are highly encouraged to contact their respective dealerships and schedule an appointment.  This is to ensure that customer related matters would be efficiently addressed by dealerships as operations transition to the “new normal”.

Ford PH Gears Up to Re-Open Dealerships After May 15

Ford dealerships across the Philippines are gearing up to re-open after May 15. While 15 dealerships have already opened in areas covered by the general community quarantine (GCQ), the rest, including those in Metro Manila will open under the guidelines set by the modified ECQ.

With that in mind, Ford dealers are rolling out measures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment in its showrooms such as conducting regular temperature checks for everyone entering the showroom, re-organization of the dealership floor to ensure social distancing, wearing of face masks and gloves for Ford dealer personnel at all times with a hazardous waste container onsite for proper disposal, enforcement of social distancing rules in all customer interactions, thorough disinfection of all Ford dealerships three times a day, and availability of hand sanitizer dispensers and alcohol in the showroom.

On the sales and service side, Ford dealerships are also implementing a number of initiatives such as vehicle sanitation, remote sales support to give customers a first-hand shopping experience, and support for finance and expired warranties.

Nissan PH Dealerships to be Disinfected Thrice Daily, to Provide Customers with Free Masks Upon Entry

With Nissan dealerships across the Philippines gearing up to re-open by May 16 (those in GCQ areas have resumed operations as early as May 6), the carmaker has announced new health and safety guidelines to control the spread of COVID-19.

Prior to opening, Nissan dealerships will be conducting a wall-to-wall disinfection of facilities, followed by thrice-daily sanitation of the facility. Dealer personnel will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPEs) in the workplace, such as face shields, face masks, and disposable plastic gloves.

Customers will likewise be requested also wear PPEs when entering dealership premises, and will be provided with complimentary face masks and plastic gloves if they have none. Measures such as contactless temperature checks, daily health monitoring of symptoms for employees, and limiting the number of people inside the dealerships will also be implemented.

Disinfection, sanitation, and physical distancing guidelines will also be implemented in sales and service operations. This covers activities such as test drives, product demonstrations, vehicle maintenance and delivery, road side assistance, as well as marketing activities.

For example, test drives will be limited to two people including the driver. Customer appointments will be prioritized over walk-ins. Online and telecommuting solutions for customer interactions are greatly recommended. Existing vehicle disinfection and sanitation procedures will become more strict and stringent.

The Nissan Customer Assistance Center will also be advising customers on the health and safety guidelines when they call in for service appointments or showroom visits.

“Even though we are entering a ‘new normal’ as an effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to provide excellent customer service and experience remains the same. Our priority right now is to keep our customers and employees safe and healthy in our dealerships through these guidelines,” said Atsushi Najima, president and managing director of Nissan in the Philippines.

Suzuki Auto PH to Begin Home Delivery of New Vehicles

After almost a month-long halt in dealership operations, Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) has finally re-opened some of its auto stores. And to take precautionary measures that will avoid the spread of COVID-19 among its employees and customers, SPH made sure to set forth Dealership Reopening Guidelines.

The auto company takes into consideration the safety of its employees and customers, and with that introduced “New Normal” business operation guidelines with the easy to remember: S.M.A.R.T.:
  • Sanitize Thoroughly
  • Maintain Safe Distancing
  • Adhere Strictly
  • Reach People Online
  • Think Positive.
Those who are looking to visit Suzuki dealerships are expected to follow these guidelines.

Suzuki Auto PH has gone a step further though, and asked their dealerships to adjust the layout with less vehicles on display to keep the showroom from getting too crowded. Moreover, they’re now encouraging customers to reach through their respective dealerships online presence, where things such as test drive requests, appointment bookings, and even loan applications can be done without visiting the dealership. Finally, customers can now opt to have their new full-sanitized Suzuki vehicle home delivered. If they still choose to pick their vehicle up, they are encouraged to come alone for the handover ceremony.

Exercising these guidelines is a leap towards prevention against COVID-19, but aside from a physical course of action, SPH understands that thinking positively is equally essential. Suzuki Philippines urges the community to distance ourselves from negativity, stay healthy and exercise regularly, and foster positive energy amid these challenging times.

This is How the "New Normal" Looks Like at Toyota Dealerships

As the Enhanced Community Quarantine transitions into the General Community Quarantine, Toyota Motor Philippines, together with its dealer network, gives us a first-hand look at how car dealers look like with the new health and safety procedures in place (check the list of open dealerships here).

These photos sent to us by Toyota Motor Philippines show their dealers operating in GCQ areas. It’s clear that not only do they check the temperature of customers and employees, but also perform regular disinfection of the entire facility, including the vehicles. Moreover, to ensure strict observance of social distancing, dealers changed the layout of showrooms and service reception areas. They will also control the number of persons inside the facility at any given time.

In light of this, customers are highly encouraged to set appointments before visiting the dealer to avoid any inconvenience. Dealers will only be accommodating confirmed service appointments which can be easily booked through the recently launched digital tool MyToyota PH.

“While we are facing challenging times, this also presents an opportunity to come back better and stronger, to review our current processes and find improvements, to constantly provide ever better products and services, and to make our team members’, customers’, and partners’ lives safer and more convenient.” says TMP President Mr. Atsuhiro Okamoto, “The new normal will take a while to get used to but together we can overcome this. Stay home, stay safe, and please observe precautionary measures if you need to go out. We are working hard to prepare our dealerships and ensuring that everyone will be safe upon their visit. We look forward to serving our valued customers again. See you in our dealerships!”

Volkswagen PH Modifies Dealer Operations as Part of "New Normal"

As the National Capital Region (NCR) and the rest of the country come closer to the day when the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) gets lifted and replaced by the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), Volkswagen Philippines has readied policies and specific practices in its dealership network to keep customers, its employees, and business partners protected.

In his message to dealer owners and executives, Volkswagen Philippines’ President Felipe Estrella urged dealerships that all steps be taken to comply with the safety protocols, guidelines and regulations issued by the government’s Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“The current situation has transformed and altered the condition and behavior of the global population, businesses, the market, and the consumers in general. The sense and assurance of safety in gatherings, social contact, crowds and visits to establishments may never be the same in the near future as a result of the pandemic. The same will apply to our businesses, including our most valued dealerships,” Estrella explained.

“It will be very vital that we collectively create an environment wherein our customers’ safety, health and well-being are our utmost priority by the time we are allowed to operate and our customers are allowed to visit our dealerships once again. With this, we recommend certain guidelines, procedures and system in order to ensure our readiness and guarantee the safety of everyone,” Estrella stressed.

In this light, every customer who visits any Volkswagen dealership during the GCQ will have to practice the following in order to comply with the guide that is aimed to eliminate, if not minimize, exposure to the life-threatening virus:
  • Wear a face mask throughout the visit.
  • Before entry, body temperature will be checked, then alcohol will be sprayed onto hands. Customers who register body temperatures above 37 degrees Celsius will be informed that entry is not allowed and recommend to seek medical consultation.
  • Shaking hands will be avoided, and physical distancing (at least one meter apart) will be strictly followed.
  • At transaction tables, customers and sales and service personnel will not sit beside one another, but across the table. Thus, only two persons are allowed per table.
  • At the showroom and vehicle service bays, customers and attendants shall maintain physical distance, even when inside the vehicle.
  • All facilities where customers may be in—or use—shall be regularly disinfected. Every transaction table will have alcohol or hand sanitizer.
  • Touchless and cashless. Use of credit cards or online payments is highly recommended.
  • For those who would like to test drive, all vehicles will be fully sanitized and are guaranteed to be safe.
  • For aftersales operations, customers must set service appointments, observe physical distancing, Service Advisors and personnel are required to wear personal protective gears and all tools used and vehicles before and after being serviced must likewise be disinfected.
All Volkswagen dealership personnel are also advised to follow and practice health and safety protocols for business operations as stipulated in the guidelines of the government’s GCQ and Volkswagen Philippines’ Dealership Sales and Aftersales Operations Guide and Recommendations, to make every customer’s visit to any Volkswagen dealership a safe move to the “new normal.”

As of May 4, 2020, Volkswagen Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao region, which is placed under GCQ, is already open from Mondays to Saturdays (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM).

UPDATED: Kia PH to Open 6 Dealerships Starting Monday

UPDATE: The count is up to 7 open dealers (05/04).

Kia Philippines is preparing to re-open dealer operations once the government lifts the quarantine this May. The Ayala-owned Korean carmaker’s Philippine subsidiary is also putting in place measures that will ensure the health and safety of its employees, business partners, customers, and the general public.

“Kia Philippines completely supports our national government’s effort to stop the spread of the virus with the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine at critical locations until May 15, and with other areas placed under General Community Quarantine after April 30. Some dealers may resume operations but taking into account the adjustments needed to adhere to the ‘new normal’ of conducting business and person-to-person interaction,” said Manny Aligada, President of Kia Philippines.

The Kia Philippines’ Post-ECQ Dealer Preparation Guidelines involve a thorough checklist of what items and places should be cleaned, along with the type of cleaning agents and materials to be used. It covers procedures from the vehicles (display, test drive, and serviced) to the offices and customer and reception areas.

A 9-Step Guide to Facility Preparation was issued before allowing employees to report for work. This involved disinfecting all areas and maintaining regular sanitation practices, posting proper markings for physical distancing (about two meters), installing sanitizing and hand washing solutions at strategic locations, ensuring that all areas were properly ventilated, among other guidelines.

Moreover, Kia Philippines provided a 9-Step Guide for Employee Preparation which included assigning a Dealer Health and Safety representative to check on employees’ health with COVID-19 rapid test kits for administration to employees every two weeks, providing shuttle services or arrangement of car pools to avoid taking public transportation, subjecting each one to a thermal scan before entry and a ‘no mask, no entry policy,’ encouraging them to avoid handing out business cards or any material that may be a source of virus, among other regulations. The automaker will also be implementing flexible working hours, shifting or skeletal workforce and staggered break time schedules to keep the number of people in the office to a minimum.

Buying a Kia will still involve that personal touch, albeit with a few preventive measures. Customers who wish to view a unit of the vehicle they’re considering are advised to set an appointment with their Sales Consultant beforehand so as to avoid a large number of people in showroom at a given time. Once they arrive at the showroom, clients must be wearing a face mask, observe sanitation measures and physical distancing of two meters. For those who would like to test drive, all vehicles will be fully sanitized inside and out after each use and are guaranteed to be safe.

Even after the sale has been made, Kia still Promises to Care with its new normal way of after-sales operations by setting service appointments, observing physical distancing, wearing of personal protective gears by Service Advisors and personnel, and disinfection of all tools used and the vehicles before and after being serviced. All serviced vehicles will undergo the same quality inspection and test drive as needed but customers may expect delays as the dealership prioritizes health and safety in its operations.

Six (6) seven (7) Kia dealers in the Visayas and Mindanao will resume its operations starting May 04, 2020, from Mondays to Saturdays:
  • Kia Dumaguete (8 AM to 5 PM)
  • Kia Leyte (8 AM to 5 PM)
  • Kia General Santos (8 AM to 5 PM)
  • Kia Ozamiz (8 AM to 5 PM)
  • Kia Cagayan de Oro (9 AM to 4 PM)
  • Kia Iligan (9 AM to 4 PM)
  • Kia Butuan (9 AM to 5 PM)

With its rallying cry “The Family That Cares”, INTECO has held numerous operations since the early part of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), in coordination with its four dealerships (INTECO EDSA, Quezon Avenue, Pangasinan, and Pampanga), the concerned local government units, and the beneficiaries and frontliners involved in these operations.

Chery Auto PH to Double Dealership Footprint in Next 3 Years

At its official brand launch, United Asia Automotive Group (UAAGI), the newly installed distributor of Chery automobiles revealed its plans to fast track the opening of 12 dealerships. Well, that number has just risen to 15 with plans to double its footprint in the next three years.

After just three months since its brand launch, sales operations have started in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

For Metro Manila, Chery tapped the areas of North EDSA, Pasig, Pasong Tamo in Makati, and Alabang in Muntinlupa. The brand also kicked off sales in provincial areas in Luzon such as Cainta, Rizal; Marilao, Bulacan; Bauang, La Union; Bacoor, Cavite; and GMA Cavite. Chery will also be present down south through its dealerships in Iloilo; Talisay, Cebu; General Santos; Davao City; Tagum, Davao; and Cagayan De Oro.

“The trust of my partners is an important part of Chery Auto Philippines’ ongoing initiative to expand dealer network not just in the metro, but also in previously untapped urban and rural markets,” announced the grateful Rommel Sytin, President of UAAGI.

Underscoring the new dealers’ trust in Chery is the fact that none of the dealerships are new to the business. All current Chery dealers are multi-brand operations and, combined, have over 50 years of automotive experience, and employ more than 1,000 employees handling the Chery brand.

These multi-brand dealers include some of the most experienced dealership groups and principals in the automotive industry like A & B United Corporation, Absolute Advantage, Inc., Autohub Group, Alphamile Automotive Dealers, Inc., Autoperfection, Inc., Frontier Automotive of Chiongbian Group, Gateway Group, LICA Group, Magnet Motors, and San Juan Group among others.

Each Chery dealership will be fully equipped to offer a complete array of aftersales services for Chery automobiles including service, parts, and even financing programs.

Chery Auto Philippines plans to establish a total of 25 dealerships across the Philippines within the next three years.

Sytin added, “I am hopeful and overwhelmed with the trust and commitment of my dealer partners. We will continue to be aggressive in terms of providing fun, fresh, and practical driving experiences, as well as bringing state-of-the-art dealerships closer to our customers.”
