This Timepiece Celebrates the Longest Collab Between a Watchmaker and Carmaker

Marking the longest-running partnership between a watch brand and a car manufacturer, Breitling has come up with this: the Breitling Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition.

Celebrating 17 years of collaboration, this special edition watch is limited to just 1,000 pieces worldwide. The chronograph is said to echo its namesake, the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible, particularly the Breitling clock installed on the dashboard.

The 42-mm stainless steel case is presented on a blue alligator leather strap—similar to the car’s very own Imperial Blue leather, while its elegant silver dial recalls the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible’s dashboard clock. The watch boasts blue sub-dials—a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock—an indication of the Breitling Manufacturer Caliber 01, with an impressive power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The dial features a white tachymeter scale on a blue inner bezel around the dial, with a red tachymeter inscription. The red second hand and centered 60-minute scale mirror the red stitching found throughout the interior cabin of the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible. The links between the watch and the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible clock are further strengthened by their complementary sets of Arabic numerals: the dashboard clock features the numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, while the watch has them at 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11. Sharing these numerals across these two pieces is a nod to the design DNA they share.

On the left side of the case is a plate with an engraved “Bentley” inscription, whose design is based on the engine spin dashboard found in historic Bentleys. Around the watch’s transparent sapphire caseback is an inscription saying “MULLINER EDITION – BREITLING – ONE OF 1000”. The Breitling Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition is a COSC-certified chronometer.

Two versions of this limited-edition watch is available, the difference merely limited to strap lock—one is a folding clasp, while the other is a tang-type buckle. As for the price, it starts at USD 8,000 (~ P 423,770).

Land Rover and Zenith Team Up to Celebrate the All-New Defender

Zenith has worked with Land Rover to create a special edition watch celebrating the all-new Land Rover Defender.

Like the legendary SUV that inspired it, the Defy 21 Land Rover Edition is modern, durable and highly desirable. Timed to coincide with the arrival of New Defender, it is limited to only 250 pieces.

The Defy 21 Land Rover Edition is the latest result of a four-year partnership between Land Rover and the historic Swiss watchmaker.

It represents a complete makeover of Zenith’s chronograph with a raw and minimalist look. Crafted in a special micro-blasted titanium case that absorbs light from all angles to better accentuate its faceted surfaces, it is both eye-catching and stealth-like.

The dial appears as one with the case with its muted matte grey color, offering a very different look to the open-dial standard versions of the Defy 21. Orange and white painted markers add legibility and contrast to the display, as do the specially shaped skeleton hands. A first for the Defy 21, the power reserve display for the 1/100sec chronograph is executed in the form of a liner window instead of a hand.

Through the specially engraved case back, the display offers a view of the El Primero 21 1/100sec movement with a custom oscillating weight, in the form of a miniaturized five-spoke Land Rover wheel.

Like the different modular packs offering Defender the perfect adaptability to different driving needs, the Defy 21 Land Rover Edition comes with two straps: the ‘Adventure’ strap with an all-terrain textured rubber, and the ‘Country’ featuring a gray rubber strap with a fabric effect and orange stitching.

Subaru Collaborated with Seiko for These Limited Edition Watches

Don’t adjust your screens: this special-edition Subaru x Seiko watch really does have a tilted face. Limited to just 360 units, this commemorative watch celebrates Subaru’s 60th anniversary and contains enough World Rally Blue detailing to satisfy even the most casual fan.

But apart from the blue detailing, carbon fiber face, and iconic Subaru machines printed around the dial, this limited run Seiko (only 360 units will be produced) sees its face tilted at exactly 11.613 degrees from the center line. Subaru and Seiko say this was done to enhance visibility while holding the steering wheel. Moreover, the adjustment crown was moved from the traditional 3 o’clock position to the 4 o’clock position as not to interfere with driving.

The unique case aside, this limited-edition Subaru x Seiko watch features mechanical automatic winding with a 41-hour power reserve, a date function, and an easy adjustment steel bracelet. It weighs 154 grams and has a case size measuring 46 mm.

This limited-edition Subaru x Seiko doesn’t come cheap. It costs 60,000 yen (~ P 29,321) and that’s without tax.

Since the mechanical driver watch was released late last year, you may be unlucky enough not to get one. But do not worry, there is yet another Subaru x Seiko watch and this one is built for those who enjoy the great outdoors.

This one has a run of 500 units, close to double the mechanical watch. Sadly, this one gives up all presences of being a driver’s watch and focuses more of being a sports and outdoor watch. Still, it’s worth noting that this is the first digital watch collaboration between Seiko and Subaru.

Part of the Prospex series, this comes with a field sensor that can monitor things like altitude, atmospheric pressure, temperature, and so forth making this a useful device for mountain climbing. It can even be linked to a smartphone app via Bluetooth. What’s more, the face is actually a solar panel negating the need to replace the battery, ever.

With a case size at 55.6 mm, it is larger than the mechanical driver’s watch, but it is way lighter at just 79 grams.

Like the Subaru x Seiko mechanical driver’s watch, this one also costs 60,000 yen (~ P 29,321).

Whether you prefer the mechanical driver watch or the Prospex outdoor watch, if you love Subaru and Seiko, this may be a good reason to book that plane ticket to Japan and see if you can snag one of these limited edition models.
