Isuzu PH Upgrades mu-X for 2020 at No Added Cost

Aside from quietly launching the D-Max Boondock 4x4, Isuzu Philippines Corporation did an equally quiet update to its 7-seater mu-X SUV.

This 2020, the mu-X receives two exterior aesthetic changes: a redesigned grille and two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels. These design changes are then complemented by a new 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The rest of the mu-X package remains the same, but it’s worth noting that these 2020 changes are applicable only for the 3.0 LS-A model thus far.

In fact, their announcement is a bit too early that only the 2020 3.0 LS-A 4x2 is currently available at P 1,795,000—no price difference from 2019. The 2020 3.0 LS-A 4x4, priced at P 2,145,000 (also no difference from 2019) will arrive at a later date.

Colors available for the 2020 mu-X are: Cosmic Black, Titanium Silver, and Silky White Pearl.

Isuzu Philippines is Discounting the mu-X Boondock by P 160K

The mu-X Boondock is fresh off the assembly line and Isuzu Philippines is already giving massive discounts on their limited edition 7-seater. Launched just last week (complete specs and brochure here), IPC is extending their “I Love Isuzu” promo for the mu-X Boondock as well.

With that, the limited 100-run mu-X Boondock can be yours for just P 1,685,000—that’s a P 160,000 discount over its P 1,845,000 suggested retail price! But here’s where things get interesting.

If you don’t want a trail-ready mu-X, there’s also the 3.0 LS-A Luxe Edition that nets you a P 180,000 discount. Since it’s got the same SRP as the mu-X Boondock (P 1,845,000), you can get the Red Spinel-hued mu-X for just P 1,665,000.

Whether you get the mu-X Boondock or the mu-X Luxe Edition, they sure sound like great value for money right now.

At 1.845M, the 2019 Isuzu mu-X Boondock is the Porma Deal of the Year (w/ Brochure)

Five years—that’s how long the Isuzu mu-X’s been on the Philippine market, and yet, Isuzu Philippines Corporation has managed to keep it fresh with a continuous slew of updates here and there. Their most special one to date though is the mu-X Boondock—a commemorative limited edition that will terrorize mall parking lots very soon.

As expected, the mu-X Boondock closely mirrors the upgrades found in the D-Max Boondock from the beefy Yokohama Geolander all-terrain 265/70 R 17 tires to the monotube nitrogen-filled “performance” shock absorbers, steel side step boards, and Boondock branding. Unlike the D-Max Boondock though, the mu-X Boondock gets cross rails for the roof, nicks its fender extensions from the mu-X Luxe Edition of all places, and gets a front chin spoiler to even out the design.

The larger tires and new shock absorbers raise the mu-X’s ground clearance, approximating the D-Max Boondock’s impressive 247-mm number. Water wading depth is also sure to cross the 800-mm mark as well.

Unfortunately for overlanders and trail-happy enthusiasts, the mu-X Boondock will only be adept at light off-roading due to its 4x2 layout. Still, it does share the 3.0 LS-A’s 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX engine making 177 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, so that’s something. The sole transmission on offer is a 6-speed automatic.

Like the 3.0 LS-A on which the mu-X Boondock is based from, it gets the very same black leather seats, automatic climate control, flip-down entertainment system, and powered driver’s seat.

While opting for just a 4x2 drivetrain sounds like a bummer, the good news is that Boondock upgrade isn’t going to break the bank. It costs just P 1,845,000 or P 50,000 more than the standard 3.0 LS-A variant. This makes the mu-X Boondock sound like the family deal of the year, especially if you have a thing for limited edition models. You better hurry though because only 100 of these bad boys (the sole color option is Havana Brown) will be made and they’ll be available at all Isuzu dealerships by the end of October.

Yes, Isuzu Philippines Will be Launching a mu-X Boondock

Read the mu-X Boondock launch story here (9/29).

After coming up with a limited edition Boondock for the D-Max, it looks like Isuzu Philippines Corporation is ready to give the very same treatment to its mu-X. Launching at the end of this month is the first-ever mu-X Boondock.

Not much is officially known about the mu-X Boondock except for this single blurry teaser photo which is part of Isuzu’s event invitation flyer for their “Grand mu-X Family Event” at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang on September 28.

Based on the photo though, the mu-X Boondock will be getting decked out in all sorts of off-road centric gear. It starts with new bumper extensions and fender flares to better fit the beefier wheels and tires package, likely echoing the D-Max Boondock’s 265/70 R 17 All-Terrain Tires. This is complemented by new roof cross bars as well as Boondock decals. It’s a safe assumption too that the mu-X Boondock will also gain a raised ride height, like the D-Max Boondock, thanks to new monotube nitrogen-charged performance shock absorbers. It must be remembered that the D-Max version has a rock-crawling capable 247 millimeters of ground clearance.

About what will power the mu-X Boondock, again Isuzu is keeping this info close to its chest. But again, the safest assumption would be that the mu-X Boondock will be based off the fast-selling 3.0 LS-A 4x2 variant, although here’s hoping that Isuzu would learn from the shortcomings of the D-Max Boondock and sell the mu-X Boondock as a flagship 4x4 instead. Regardless, all eyes will be on Isuzu this September 28.

Isuzu Turns Over 11 Vehicles to Universal Fuel Solutions

In a formal ceremony last April in Cortez, Bohol, wholesale and retail fuel distributor Universal Fuel Solutions received two EXZ and three FVM trucks, and six mu-X midsize SUVs from Isuzu Bohol.

Universal Fuel Solutions, which has been a loyal client of Isuzu Bohol, has attributed much of its operational successes to the reliability, durability, power, and fuel efficiency of Isuzu-branded vehicles distributed exclusively by Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) and its authorized dealership network, of which Isuzu Bohol belongs.
