Mazda Philippines Shows Off 2019 Mazda3 (w/ 13 Photos)
Less than 6 months after its global unveil at the LA Auto Show, Bermaz Auto Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country presented the all-new 2019 Mazda3 to media and dealers alike. Marking a new era for the Japanese automaker, the all-new Mazda3 is the embodiment of Mazda’s upmarket push.
The first vehicle to show off Mazda’s new styling direction, the 2019 Mazda3 pushes the design of its 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback (coincidentally making its ASEAN debut) to two different directions with the former being more mature and the latter, sportier. Regardless, designers opted to trim unnecessary elements, focusing instead on the interplay of light and shadow—a hallmark of the Evolved KODO Design.
Inside, the all-new Mazda3 continues with the same less-is-more approach. The cabin is laid out in perfect horizontal symmetry with the driver at the center. In addition, elements like the air vents have been cleverly integrated to the follow the line of the instrument panel. Aiming to be a standard bearer in the compact class in terms of fit and finish, the Mazda3 employs clever new material pieces including a laser-engraved material on the shifter panel.
Ergonomically, the all-new Mazda3 continues to hone Mazda’s “Jinba-ittai” philosophy by adding a wider range of steering adjustment, more supportive seats, and a higher-placed gearlever. Even the Mazda Connect commander control has been better positioned.
Underpinning the 2019 Mazda is the new Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture. Not only does this afford a more polished driving experience, it also provides a more refined ride and dramatically reduced levels of NVH. Tire choices remain 205/60R16 and 215/45R18 depending on the variant.
As for the drivetrain, the all-new Mazda debuts with an improved Skyactiv-G family. With optimized intake ports and piston shape, split fuel injection, and a coolant control valve, it delivers higher levels of performance, fuel economy, and environmental-friendliness.
Final specs and pricing of the 2019 Mazda3 will be revealed at a later date.
