Lexus Philippines Launches 471-horsepower 2020 RC F

Fresh from its worldwide debut at the North American International Auto Show last January, Lexus announces the availability of the RC F sports coupe. Boasting revised styling and improved performance, the RC F could be the best bang for the buck high-performance premium coupe with a suggested retail price of just P 5,928,000.

Lexus engineers worked on reducing the 2020 RC F’s curb weight without compromising the refinement and solidity. In order to achieve this, it uses hollow half shafts at the back, while up front it has a paired down intake manifold and a smaller air conditioning compressor. It now uses aluminum toe control brackets and upper suspension brackets which also reduce weight while maintaining stiffness.

Further refining the RC F’s driving, it now has stiffer bushings for the rear suspension arms and steering rack mounts. More rigid engine mounts were also used to better transmit the power of the normally aspirated 5.0-liter V8. With 471 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque, it’s connected to an 8-speed automatic with a higher final drive ratio. Moreover, it now has electric launch control as standard.

Additional performance gains are delivered by new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires designed specifically for the RC F. Compared to the standard Michelin specifications, the tires on the RC F utilize a unique profile shape, tread pattern and rubber compound. The changes are specifically designed to reduce understeer, improve overall lateral grip and increase durability under extreme conditions.

Style-wise, there are subtle changes that mark the RC F’s 2020 model year appearance. Up front, the headlights have been updated to a design that features stacked LED lights and integrated daytime running lights. The shape of the signature grille has been altered by adding a lower lip opening that stretches across the bottom to create a visually shorter front fascia. At the rear of the car, new taillights integrate neatly into a reshaped bumper to give the RC F a cleaner, more chiseled appearance.

The RC F is available in 6 exterior colors: Radiant Red Contrast Layering, Heat Blue Contrast Layering, White Nova Glass Flake, Sonic Titanium, Graphite Black Glass Flake, and— new to the RC F— Naples Yellow Contrast Layering, which was first made available in the flagship LC 500 coupe. On the inside, the RC F comes in three semi-aniline leather colors: Flare Red, White, and Black.

Men in Black Choose the 2020 Lexus RC F

The protector of Earth from alien scum has a swanky new ride. With Sony Pictures’ Men in Black turning a new chapter with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson replacing Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black: International, they need a car with sophisticated styling, power for high-speed pursuits, and of course, the most advanced alien-fighting technology. Enter the Lexus RC F.

As the luxury sports coupe recently underwent a refresh making it faster and lighter than ever, the Lexus RC F fulfills its role as the Men in Black (MIB)’s official fleet vehicle. In the film, Hemsworth and Thompson will drive the 2020 RC F as they save the Earth from what could be the biggest threat they’ve ever encountered: a mole within the MIB organization.

Aside from the 472 horsepower RC F, the Lexus RX Hybrid and LX SUVs will also be used in film scenes with alien encounters.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Lexus on this multi-tiered campaign in support of Men in Black: International,” said Jeffrey Godsick, EVP, Brand Management and Global Partnerships, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. “The Lexus RC F sports coupe provides the perfect vehicle for our team of Men in Black agents, led by Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, as they protect the galaxy.”

In the Philippines, the 2020 Lexus RC F will hold its official preview later this month with retail sales to start soon thereafter. Men in Black: International will open in local cinemas on June 12, 2019.
